History: Brad Cain
has at least reached the level in wrestling where he is recognized
by fans across the United States, if only for a brief period of
holding up signs. Cain started his career as a bodybuilder, running
the circuit for 7 years. He first appeared as a wrestler in the
Indypendent Wrestling Federation under various names. He was briefly
in a tag team in the NWA with Toad, called Dangerous Minds. Lodi's
first main trainer was C.W. Anderson, a legend in the independent
circuits. In 1997, Lodi appeared in many federations, mainly as
Raizen Cain. These federations included the Southern Wrestling Association,
National Championship Wrestling, Southern Championship Wrestling,
and All-Star Wrestling. After a stint in the WCW Power Plant, Cain
joined WCW, and first appeared at World War III in November 1997
as "Lodi", the sign-toting member of Raven's Flock. He
was named Lodi since he somewhat resembles Billy Idol, and Idol
spelled backwards is "Lodi".
His biggest win in
WCW came when, with help from the Flock, he defeated Saturn, forcing
him to be Lodi's slave until Fall Brawl '98. Although Lodi forced
Saturn to do many humiliating things, he never managed to force
him to submit. At Fall Brawl, Saturn beat Raven, disbanding the
Flock and leaving Lodi "homeless". Lodi appeared a few
times, showing off his signs, but he really seemed not to have anything
behind him anymore. He vanished from the WCW scene, only appearing
during the Spring Break Fest show on MTV. During this time, Lodi
went to the WWO, wrestling in a few matches. However, a new WCW
angle was on the horizon from the one-time Flock member.
In late June '99,
Lodi began being seen with Lenny Lane. The two seemed to have a
"gay" angle happening, going as far as both wrestlers
wearing pink and talking to each other in 'different' ways. However,
it was later shown that the men were brothers (at least in WCW).
The two began tagging together as the West Hollywood Blondes, and,
although they rarely won, they at least were getting recognition
again. In September '99, Lodi helped Lenny win the Cruiserweight
Title, and was always there to add some interference to help keep
him the champ. Even that did not last, however, as Lodi couldn't
stop Psychosis from taking the belt away. The angle soon died off,
as the two men were taken off of television due to complaints from
GLAAD about their negative portrayal of homosexuals.
Lodi and Lenny would
still appear together occassionally, trying on new angles, such
as when they came out in suits with Miss Hancock as Standards &
Practices, watching the other wrestlers. Later, they were paired
up as Rave and Lane of the XS. This didn't last very long, since
they did not receive heat in the eyes of the fans. Thus, in August
of 2000, with WCW making cutbacks on some of its wrestlers, Lodi
and Lenny were taken out from WCW's line-up. After a falling out
with Lane due to the way they left the federation, Lodi went on
his own, wrestling in different independent organizations. In October
'00, Lodi made his first appearence in NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship
Wrestling, carrying a sign that said "Look Who's Back?"
He promptly defeated "The Outlaw" Wayne Taylor with a
DDT.
Lodi stayed in the
NWA MACW into 2001, teaming with "Tuff T" Curtis Thompson,
another independent wrestler, in the Tag-Team Title division. He
would also wrestle occasionally for the World Title. Neither belt
ever found its way around his waist. Lodi would later move back
to Atlanta, for reasons unknown, and competed in different independent
organizations. In the later months of 2001, Lodi appeared in the
WWAS, a new organization in Australia that collected many former
WCW wrestlers, including Lodi's former ally, Lenny Lane. The two
men were placed in the WWAS Title Tournament when Juventud Guerrera
was injured, competing in a Triangle match against the Road Dogg
Jesse James. Unfortunately, the two could not get along, allowing
the Road Dogg to get the victory and move on in the tournament.
Whether this is the start of a major feud between Lodi & Lane
is unknown, but it's definitely another chance for Lodi to show
his skills to a wrestling audience, still trying to shake the shadows
of bad angles.
